About Us

Located in Denton, Texas, Green Zatar is a small, cozy restaurant owned and operated by a  Persian family. Green Zatar specializes in Mediterranean, Persian, Greek, and Middle Eastern Foods. The restaurant started out in 1994 as an international grocery store with foods from almost every continent. In 2011, they changed their name to Green Zatar to officially reflect their transition from a grocery store to a restaurant. Although they don't carry the variety they once did, they still carry a number of imported groceries including teas, herbs, mixes, desserts, orange blossom honey, premium kalamata olives, as well as several brands of basmati rice, olive oil, canned goods and feta cheese.

What People Are Saying:

"Very clean and healthy cuisine. Baba Ganouche is remarkable. Now, the name of the restaurant is Green Zatar with same menu and great service from a respectable family, but with an addition of Zatar bread as an hors d'oeuvre...delicious! Also, they serve the best iced tea in the State of Texas, no doubt. I love their Greek Salads as well as their Veggie Combo which is more to eat: humus, baba ganouche, falafel, tabouli, dolmas, rice with safron and a side salad. Too many great dishes to mention here and loving, welcoming service from hosts who treasure your visit as much as you will treasure their food. "

My all-time favorite Middle-Eastern Restaurant...‎
"I have known Hakima and Ali since they opened up many years ago. All diners at all restaurants everywhere should be greeted so warmly and treated with such hospitality."

Great Food, Clean, Pleasant Music...
"The International Restaurant has a wonderful International menu. Family-owned, they are very inviting and likeable folks. The food is always great, the restaurant is the cleanest place in town. From Gyro Sandwhiches, humas, lentil soup, to Greek Musaka (sp?), the food is always fresh and tasty. Try the hot tea. I try to eat here at least once a week."

Great food and service
"I've always gone to this place for Middle Eastern groceries, but I have just now discovered how great their food is. Furthermore, the family that runs this restaurant is very hospitable. I don't know why we didn't dine there long ago "

International Foods of Denton
"Great restaurant serving authentic greek and middle-eastern food. I especially enjoy their Kebabs, Chicken Souvlaki, Gyro and Greek Mousaka. The saffron basmati rice served with most entrees is quite good Nice quiet atmosphere and friendly staff. Prices range from $6-$17. They also have a selection of imported groceries for sale."
